Channel 1: Singing praise for parents saving for college
An elementary school choir has an unusual performance for their audience with lyrics of their own. This 30-second advertisement, which aired across Virginia in early 2008, was designed to use humor to bring attention to the importance of saving for college. This spot won the Richmond Advertising Club's 2008 gold award for TV.
Channel 2: Going Shopping
A 30-second advertisement depicting a mother and her young son buying groceries was produced for a statewide television campaign. As the two weave through the aisles, the toddler is seen rapidly growing into a kindergartner, a young boy, a tween and finally a high school senior, still sitting in the shopping cart - images conveying the message that "before you know it, they'll be in college."
Channel 3: VHSL Basketball Championship
For the first time, Virginia high school basketball fans from Suffolk to Salem to Springfield joined and cheered their favorite teams as the 2008 State Basketball Championships were televised live across Virginia. The Virginia College Savings Plan co-sponsored the televised championships.
