David A. Von Moll

State Comptroller

As State Comptroller, Mr. Von Moll directs the operations of the Virginia Department of Accounts, which develops and implements statewide financial management and internal control policies and operates the state’s central financial management systems including accounting, payroll, fixed asset and disbursements. His office also prepares Virginia’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and other statewide financial management and compliance reports, implements internal control and agency oversight programs to ensure conformance with GAAP and statewide risk management and internal control policies. Von Moll has served in various positions in the Department of Accounts over the past 22 years including State Payroll Operations Manager and Manager of Disbursements Review and Assistance and prior to that 8 years in compliance auditing with the Virginia Department of Taxation.

Mr. Von Moll holds a Bachelor's Degree in accounting from Old Dominion University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a CPA, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM). As State Comptroller, Von Moll serves on numerous boards in addition to the Virginia College Savings Plan including the Treasury Board, the Virginia Public Building Authority, and the Virginia College Building Authority.
