If a distribution was processed from your Virginia529 account(s) in 2011, a 1099-Q will be mailed by January 31, 2012. You will receive a pressure sealed envelope indicating “IMPORTANT TAX RETURN DOCUMENT ENCLOSED”. Follow opening instructions on the envelope.
All taxpayer identification numbers were truncated. You will be receiving a CORRECTED 1099-Q with untruncated taxpayer identification numbers. In the meantime, to assist you in completing your tax returns, the correct Federal I.D. No. (FEIN) for the Virginia College Savings Plan is 54-1816246.
For complete information on 1099-Qs, who will receive it and what you should do with the information, please review
2011 IRS Form 1099-Q (pdf).
