Mary G. Morris, Chief Executive Officer

Mary G. Morris is the Chief Executive Officer of Virginia 529, a role she has held since October 2007. She directs and manages the operations, resources and investments of the Plan and is involved in state and federal legislative and governance issues relating to the 529 industry.

Debbie Allan, Director of Human Resources

Debbie joined Virginia 529 in February 2009 as the Director of Human Resources and oversees the hiring, retention and development of the Virginia 529 team, as well as providing support through strategic planning, engagement, internal communications and workforce planning.

Elizabeth Dutton, Chief Administrative Officer

Libby Dutton joined Virginia 529 in September 1996 and is one of the longest serving employees of the Agency. She was named Chief Administrative Officer in 2007 and has responsibility for marketing, communications, scholarship, community outreach, facilities, procurement, and mail operations.

Chris McGee, General Counsel

Chris McGee serves as the agency’s General Counsel, a position he has held since January 2011. In his role, Chris provides legal support and counsel to the Board of Directors, CEO and agency staff. Chris joined Virginia 529 in July 2008 as Deputy General Counsel.

Gary Ometer, Chief Financial Officer

Gary Ometer joined Virginia 529 in May 2008 as the Chief Financial Officer. Gary is responsible for the Plan’s financial operations, accounting, investments and financial reporting. As CFO, Gary also serves as a member of the Investment Advisory Committee.

Michael Thompson, Chief Technology Officer

Michael D. Thompson is the Chief Technology Officer, a position he has held since December 2007. He has overall responsibility for the development, maintenance and security of the agency’s technology resources. He joined Virginia 529 in November 1999.

Sherri Wyatt, Chief Compliance Officer

Sherri Wyatt joined Virginia 529 in January, 2007 as the Risk Management and Compliance Manager and has served as the Chief Compliance Officer since 2009. She built the compliance function at Virginia 529 with a focus on business process controls and oversees the enterprise risk management activities.
