The Virginia College Savings Plan today launched its
revamped Web site, www.Virginia529.com. The improved site should make it easier
to enroll online and offers account access for participants in the Virginia
Prepaid Education Program and the Virginia Education Savings Trust.
The site also provides quick access to forms for account
changes, using benefits and rolling over funds into tax-free and Virginia
tax deductible 529 plans for tuition, fees and most other college expenses,
officials said in a news release.
"The Virginia College Savings Plan has always made it a
priority to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information to families
and employers," said Executive Director Diana F. Cantor. "Our
redesigned Web site will assist people even more through its user-friendly
format and comprehensive information that details the many ways Virginia's 529
plans can help people financially prepare for higher education."
The Virginia College Savings Plan, launched in 1996, is the
largest 529 program in the country, with more than 1.5 million unique accounts
and $24 billion in assets, officials said. Other features of the redesigned Web
site include:
* A "FAQ" section containing questions and answers
about Virginia's 529 plans;
* Downloadable copies of Virginia College Savings Plan
enrollment materials and brochures;
* A "Good to Know" column featuring facts and tips
on 529 plans and the latest on higher education trends, college costs and
student financial aid;
* And a "Learn More" section with a summary of
savings strategies, glossary of terms and specialized pages detailing 529 plan
employer sponsorship opportunities.
