Manju Ganeriwala was appointed Treasurer of Virginia in 2009, a position she has held since that time. Prior to her appointment, she served as Virginia’s deputy secretary of finance from 2006 to 2009.
In each of her positions in state government, she has served as an advisor on financial matters of the state, including crafting the budget, developing revenue forecasts, issuing debt, maintaining Virginia’s AAA bond rating and maintaining Virginia’s status as one of the best financially–managed states. She previously served as deputy director for finance and administration in the Department of Medical Assistance Services from 2000 to 2006. Treasurer Ganeriwala serves as chairwoman of the Treasury Board and as a member of 10 other state boards and commissions.
Treasurer Ganeriwala is active in the National Association of State Treasurers, recently completing a term as President. Ganeriwala holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Bombay and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. A resident of Virginia since 1983, she resides in Henrico County. She and her husband have two children.
