We are hiring a UX Designer who will design and optimize our websites with an emphasis on providing an exceptional user experience.  If you have a passion for engaging customers with accessible design while making a difference in our community, then this role is for you.

In this position, you will:

  • Collaborate with teams across the Agency to ensure that our message is clearly articulated to both internal and external customers.
  • Design our websites (,,,, and others) and intranet ensuring the sties are accessible across multiple technology platforms including mobile, tablet, desktop and other devices.
  • Proactively monitor websites to ensure customer ease of use and implement improvements as technology and trends dictate.
  • Build sitemaps, storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes for user feedback and testing
  • Conduct testing and research to improve website design and enhance the user experience.
  • Develop new features and templates to implement our marketing and outreach strategies

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HCI, graphic design, or related field
  • Three years’ experience designing and maintaining professional web sites in a responsive manner; an equivalent combination of work experience and education may be considered
  • Experience using HTML5, CSS3, XML, JavaScript, Adobe XD, Invision and/or Azure RP
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and digital and visual media preferred
  • A collaborative approach to meeting customers’ and teammates’ needs and expectations
  • Demonstrated understanding of information design, web accessibility, interaction best practices, User Centered Design principles and browser limitations.
  • Knowledge of recognized web coding and accessibility standards such as W3C and WCAG 2.1

Work Environment:

  • Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all Virginia529 employees are working in a hybrid in-person/remote environment. This position typically works in an office environment with considerable time in a sitting, stationary position.
  • Frequently communicate with team members; must be able to exchange accurate information accordingly
